Your Recommendation for the “Best” Design Option
My three proposals compared sun hours, noise, and microclimate. In comparing the three designs, I decided that my Proposal 1 is the most efficient and best design to go with. The rectangular shape of the lower building created a quiet courtyard area, which allows for reduced noise, sufficient sunlight, and a comfortable microclimate. This enables those using the building to take breaks outside without being too negatively affected by the streets and buildings surrounding this building. One negative to this design is that there are high levels of noise along the outside walls of the building. However, this is consistent with all designs, so would require additional alternative designs to mitigate.
