Description

I simplified my original, cantilevered design for more manageable structural modeling by extending the structure of the 2nd-4th floors to the top floor of the building. I added structural framing elements and piles going into the ground to provide additional stability since my building is located directly adjacent to a body of water (in Boston). I also added an additional structural layer beneath the roof for added insulation, since Boston weather can get quite cold in the winter. This should improve the building’s energy efficiency and provide a more comfortable environment for employees throughout the year. Ultimately, this building has been designed to provide plenty of natural light, space, comfort, and long-term stability.

Using ACC Model Coordination

  1. Upload your architectural and structural models to your folder on ACC Documents, then copy them into the subfolder named Coordination Space.
  2. Use the modules pull-down menu to switch to the Model Coordination tool.

  6. Create a new View that merges a 3D view from both your architectural and structural models.
  7. Open the new view, and use the ACC Model Coordination environment to navigate to an interesting camera viewpoint. Then, create an Issue to share this viewpoint.
    1. Click the Issues button in the left navigation bar to display the saved issues.
    2. Click the Create Issue button to create a new one.
    3. Click a location in the model viewer to place a push pin.
    4. Enter info for this issue:
      • Change the Type to Design
      • Enter a Title
      • Assign the issue to our CA
    5. Click the Create button to save your issue and send it to the assignee.
  8. Repeat these steps to create three issues sharing interesting viewpoints within your merged models.
