Description
When collaborating with others, you’re influenced by the work that has already been completed. You adapt your design choices to align with theirs. I noticed the other students created a deck, areas of activities, and hallways leading to unfinished open spaces.
For the exterior, I intended to visually balance the building’s form while simultaneously pushing for asymmetry. I added a second balcony and adjusted/added windows on the east-facing wall. This was to complement another student’s balcony on the southwest wall. However, I decided to use non-combustible materials for my deck because it’s a commercial building.
For the interior, I noticed someone added a long hallway and recreational areas, such as a game room, library, and a few others. I decided to subdivide some of the remaining space into a shared kitchen (with storage) and a large art room equipped with multiple sinks (both for paintbrushes and general cleaning).
