The proposed project is a net-zero design tool for multiplex building projects, which are more complex and multi-functional than single-tower buildings. Building on my submission for Module 7, this tool will introduce new features and functionalities - in particular, the ability of the user to customize the design of each tower (compared to just cuboids).
Intended users
Architects and developers of green residential, commercial and industrial multiplex buildings who want to evaluate the relevant sustainability metrics of different multiplex configurations
Need you’re trying to provide a solution or support for
Different configurations of multiplex buildings can have highly different performance metrics and it is important to optimize in the case of green buildings, given the need to maximize the emissions reduction/energy-saving potential of green walls/roofs and solar panels or even building material.
Inputs
- Number of sides on each tower
- Height of each tower
- Relative locations of each tower (X-/Y-locations)
- Project location
- Construction cost of walls
- Construction cost of roofs
- Material of structural frame
Underlying logic of the model you’ll implement
- Use Dynamo geometry to design three towers and join them
- Compute different evaluators (listed below in outputs)
- Add structural framing elements
- Use Dynamo Player for ease of varying user inputs
- Use Generative Design study to pick the ideal design
- Generate model on Revit
Outputs
- Total volume
- Total floor area
- Cumulative solar insolation potential on walls
- Total roof area
- Total construction cost
- Weight of columns and beams (amount of materials used)
- Building model on Revit
