Description
This new student center and commons is the perfect spot for students to congregate, socialize, and collaborate on projects throughout their time in university. Featuring a central atrium entrance along with a interior courtyard that extends to the roof with a skylight, this center is the perfect spot for natural light on campus. Featuring a variety of group study rooms, open work space, and a maker space, this student center will be the center for collaboration. The lounge space, cafe and dining area, and operable overhead doors to the exterior patio make the commons an excellent spot to slow down, grab a coffee, and enjoy the beautiful weather. In order to make this new building connect with the existing, a wide bridge extension on the second floor is added along with a grand staircase down to the ground level, allowing for students to travel from class to the commons seamlessly. The third floor features a glass enclosed student gallery area for project presentations and poster sessions. The walls lining this space are operable and allow it to grow or shrink in size depending on the occasion.
