4D simulations are often used to show the construction sequence for an entire project, but shorter simulations that focus on a specific period of time are also useful.

  • Can you provide examples of how a simulation that focuses on a 1 or 2 week period could be useful for planning?
    • Starting any project is often the most difficult part. This 1-2 week period could be essential for ensuring the project begins smoothly and in a timely fashion.

What level of detail should be included in a 4D simulation?

Structural elements should be top of the list of most important details. It is important to see where safe building practices can clash with design elements or general function of the space.

How can model-based quantity takeoff improve the design process?

Scarcity often drives creativity. Designers can use elements in places not thought of before and in ways that haven’t been done before due to budget constraints.
