Description
Enter a brief paragraph (5 to 7 sentences) describing the features of your proposed design that you'd like to highlight here...
As a Mexican beginner to BIM, my approach to this assignment was rooted in both the cultural and environmental aspects of my background, as well as the sustainable design principles outlined. My proposed design for the field research station marries traditional Mexican architectural elements with modern sustainability features.
The building features south-facing windows, inspired by traditional Mexican homes, which utilize passive solar design to capture sunlight and warmth during the day, because energy acquisition in Mexico can be quite challenging due to to its topography. This not only illuminates the interior workspace but also takes advantage of the sun's heat, reducing the need for active heating systems. I've also included surfaces for mounting photovoltaic panels, ensuring that the structure remains energy-efficient.
It includes a bathroom and a storage area as requested from the client.
Inside, the workspace offers ample room for both individual and collaborative research, reminiscent of the communal nature of many Mexican gatherings. The ADA-compliant bathroom and wide doors ensure that the space is inclusive and accessible to everyone. Moreover, my focus on wooden materials mimics with the simplicity and beauty of rural Mexican constructions.
