We've all been to exhibition spaces -- some extraordinary and magical -- and some not so good. Thinking back on your experiences, what makes an exhibition space "great"?

Name a few (two or three) exhibition spaces or museums that you've really enjoyed...

  • What are some the key features/aspects that you feel makes them so good?
  • Why puts them at the top of the list?

Pacific Bonsai Museum (Federal Way, WA)

This is my favorite museum of all time — it allowed me to find my appreciation for the art of bonsai, I loved the connection of how we were looking at mini trees amongst the giant trees of the Pacific Northwest, and I valued the education of bonsai’s history with the Japanese American heritage. This museum is small, but it is to the point, and it is impactful.

Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York City, NY)

What I really love about this museum is the breadth of art and art history it presents. There is something in this museum for everyone — it has pieces from various art styles, eras, and cultures. I found that I was able to learn something about many places around the world from the art pieces, and I think this breadth is a feature that other art museums I have been to do not the capacity to allow.
