Module 3 - Project Goals Targets & Strategies
Goal 1: Passive design
- Measure: percentage of original site that is left undisturbed
- Targets:
- 40%
- 60-80%
- Strategies:
- design around the existing nature occupying the site
- excavate as little as possible in areas that must be disturbed
Goal 2: recycled/ sustainable materials
- Measure: percentage out of total materials used in construction
- Targets:
- 50%
- 70-80%
- Strategies:
- using shipping containers
- using sustainable steel and wood
- materials that are not brand new to the world but can be repurposed to be used in my design
- ensure that materials used are purchased from companies that use environmentally responsible practices
Goal 3: Minimal Carbon footprint
- Measure: carbon emissions and percentage of green energy used
- Targets:
- 70% green energy
- 80-100% green energy powered (produce as much energy as it consumes)
- Ideal Target to hit
- net zero
- Strategies:
- use solar panels
- natural heating/ cooling and ventilation systems
- windows for natural light
- water conservation system
