Part 1

  1. Wall and roof surfaces
  • Exterior Wall

  1. Openings/glazed surfaces
  • Windows

Because the first and second floors are mainly exhibition areas and the third floor is relatively private office areas and meeting rooms, the third floor has few windows. There are more windows in the stairway than in the exhibition area so that the view from the exhibition area is not too disturbed. There are more windows facing the sun than shade, reducing energy consumption.

  • Curtain walls

The central area of the building has an atrium, which is constructed by curtain wall. And when the daylight comes from this side, the first floor gets the most sunlight and the third floor the least. The lobby on the first floor is exactly what we want to get more light, while the third floor is relatively more private.

  1. Shading or sun control features
  • Overhangs

The building has a sun visor on the sunny side. As can be seen through daylight and shadow, the visor blocks the sun from the southern windows during the summer afternoons when the sun is at its strongest.

  • Shadings

A sun shield is provided on a whole curtain wall. When the sunlight comes from this side, most of the sunlight is blocked, and the floor of the room casts shadows.
