Design Project 2 | Mini Proposals

Journal Entry For
Project 2 - Mini Proposal
💡
Create a mini-proposal with work plan.
  • Mini-Proposal:
    • Describe what you want to design and the context (who, where, when, why & how). Include (a) a sentence about your team’s personal connection to this context, (b) the sustainability element, and (c) a project code-name. <100 words.
    • Example:

We love playing games. And we are committed to sustainability lifestyles. Our team will design a sustainability gamification teaching & research laboratory in XYZ at Stanford University for students interested in learning & developing product designs that emphasize UX-motivated playability in sustainability human-behavior & human-mindset change. Our team is interested in applying positive psychology with AI machine learning & personal sensor technologies to design frameworks & solutions for clinical & real-world applications in education, healthcare & community well-being, among others. This is PROJECT PINBALL WIZARD.

  • Work Plan:
    • Project Management Practice - Make a table of action items, deliverables, start & completion dates, & who will have primary responsibility for driving & delivering. The header action items should include each of the design thinking components in our process; list specific tasks as sub-items.
    • Example:

Topic

Common area(s) in dorm residence, or a dorm room

Specifically the kitchen + dining room of a residence

Sustainability

As a living space for a large number of people, dormitories have a chance to be positive environmentally sustainability influences if they can cut out emissions and find ways to remain environmentally friendly whenever possible. But potentially more importantly, the can contribute immensely to social sustainability. College students are an especially vulnerable population to mental health struggles, and the design of a physical common space can contribute significantly to improving community.

Personal Connections

We are all undergraduate students! Tom will be an RA in Xanadu (Stanford Row House) this fall.
