1. Redpath Museum at McGill University
Redpath Museum is a museum of natural history belonging to McGill University and located in the center of the main campus. It serves as a teaching and research unit at McGill University. I love it because it is a beautiful building within the McGill University campus with a treasure trove of very interesting displays and exhibits with much variety. The location of the museum is easy for students and visitors to access.
The quiet charm of the Redapath museum is that it makes feel like you are in a quaint European museum in the early-mid last century. Since Montreal has a French colonial period. The museum is a European architectural style.
Lastly, Both the museum's interior and exterior have been utilized as a set, for exhibition. It takes advantage of all the space and opportunities to help visitors to learn.
2. China Science and Technology Museum
I visited China Science and Technology Museum when I was in elementary school during a field trip, but I still remember the experience.
Firstly, it has an attractive and creative appearance. Composed of a slew of building block-like concrete blocks that articulate with each other, the structure of the museum is featured like a Lu Ban lock, or a magic cube, symbolizing that science is an endless process of “unlocking” and “discovering secrets”. The external appearance of the building attracts me want to explore the museum.
Secondly, apart from numerous science exhibits, there is a science playground for children. Interactive games in the playground get kids interested, spark curiosity, and help them learn more about science. Games are a great way of allowing visitors to have agency over often quite complex areas of content, allowing visitors to explore ideas and content in a very interactive way.
Lastly, the museum has various program spaces. It has five major thematic exhibitions, namely Science Paradise, The Glory of China, Science & Technology and Life, Explorations and Discoveries, and Challenges and the Future, the public displaying area, as well as 4 special-effect theatres, namely the Dome Theatre, Giant Screen Theatre, 4D Theatre and Motion Theatre. Besides, the Museum also has a science popularization lecture hall, a multi-function hall, and a number of laboratories and classrooms.
