To me sustainability has to do with a building living in its nature for a prolonged period of time, without causing harm to its neighbours. It should be self-sufficient in many ways, like reusing water within itself, the ability to produce energy while also using it, and to be able to adapt to changes with time. It is not necessarily just having green surfaces in the building, but the building systems should function with minimal support from external sources. It could vary from something as obvious as being able to transcend time in terms of architecture, to more complex systems like passive cooling, or using environment-friendly materials . It should also be a place that can give to the people over time, and not become obsolete. It is a broad umbrella, and I hope to define it further as I work on this project.
