Description

The architectural building concept features a complicated, pyramidal twisting shape which required an innovative approach to designing the structural components. Beginning at the foundation, the structure is primarily supported on a mat foundation with footings placed under central columns. The ground floor of the building has a wide spread of columns to help distribute the loadings from the levels above evenly to the foundation. Above, each level features a grid layout of beams with columns spaced on the perimeter at 20 ft. In a central 40’x40’ square of the grid, four columns form a ‘core’ to the building that transmits the floor loads directly to the foundation and provide stability to the structure.
