What are the principal advantages of using a single building information model of the existing conditions as the foundation for modeling proposed additions or renovations?
- Why not create a separate model for the new proposed design?
It will help us understand the interaction between the old and new building; what things will be removed from the previous one, where will the extension start, how the building existence affect the new and vice versa like light, shadow…If we create separate model it would be hard to know how things interact and how one affect the other.
What sort of complexities are introduced when you construct a building complex in phases?

- Why did you choose these building features? And what were the biggest challenges in modeling them as the design alternatives?
I choose the first and the third option.
The first option shows curtain wall exterior vs open space with Arch. This option gives my client to preserve some element from existing or to change it with a modern look.
The second option give my client the option to have large open space in the second and first floor or to have courtyard in the middle.
The challenge I have encountered is when I found error in my main model and change that in the main model it didn’t change that for my option sets I don’t know why.
