In the exhibition areas utilize wide horizontal spacing to avoid the need to horizontal supports, and included an inner truss framing. The truss is a Warren truss to take into account the low roof pitch. I also think that keeping the exhibition spaces clear of vertical supports helps me achieve some of my design goals of maximizing daylighting and energy efficiency.
In the wings I included smaller horizontal spacing for the beams and columns, since the smaller rooms on the wings didn’t need no supports to be showing.
I think one challenge of this structural design is the two seperate buildings on a single grid system. It made the spacing a little non-standard. I think I may change this to two seperate grid sysems in the future.
