I want my space to include a lot of natural materials (timber, bamboo, landscaping, etc.) as well as serve as a third space where community can gather for multiple purposes, with the added benefit of learning about sustainability. I care a lot about community, especially via supporting local businesses, so research about the location of my space would be crucial. I also like the idea of flexibility of a building design, as in designing the building so that its spaces’ functionality can adapt to other functions over time as the community’s needs change - essentially making the building dynamic rather than static. Other design concepts that I would like to incorporate are green roofs, natural ventilation, public transportation access, and photovoltaics.
