Introducing Kool Air©!
KoolAir© is a novel design that helps you design buildings to optimise natural ventilation! The overarching goal is to have more A/E/C professionals design for natural ventilation as a means of reducing building energy consumption and improving indoor thermal comfort. KoolAir© uses generative design to test the BEST design for your own natural ventilation needs. Here’s how it works…
With KoolAir©, you will be able to input some of your input geometries as variables. You can define the range of each variable independently (e.g. building height < 700-ft). Once you are content with your variable ranges, you can choose to minimise/maximise the outputs from the generator. The outputs are the following: Height to volume ratio, Percentage of daylight, Cumulative solar insulation, and Construction cost. Ideally, in order to optimise for natural ventilation, we recommend to maximise the first three outputs and minimise the Construction cost. Once all your variables are set, you can run the generator tool.
After a few minutes, you will be prompted with some ideal designs to optimise natural ventilation! You will have to opportunity to choose from a large variety of structures/designs your favourite/the one that answers the most your project needs! Don’t let complex maths ruin your creativity, and let our novel tool choose and compute the IDEAL design for YOU.
