Description
This is a conceptual small 516 SF wood-stucco, asphalt roof research station. The roof is sloped at 30 degrees for optimum direct sunlight on the southside solar panels. A combination of glass doors, casement and transom with trim windows is preferred for maximum sunlight and ventilation. Space occupancy is within the design brief criteria. 2x10 roof rafters, 2x6 exterior with R-22 insulation and 2x4 interior walls are selected and typical. Louvers could be used in lieu of transom windows for economy while an asphalt roof was used for low maintenance costs and insulation mass although with a higher carbon content. Solar panel quantities are preliminary and for illustration purposes pending final design
