I had a bit of trouble with the options sheet so here are options 1 and 2.
Description
I first knew I wanted to incorporate some kind of outdoor stairs, inspired by the McMurtry Building. I followed the overall L shape, basically mirroring the opposite side like the engineering quad does. Unlike Huang and Y2E2, I wanted to add an archway along a wall that opposite wall, and keep the building closed instead of remain an open archway cutting through. I wanted to consider the flow of traffic as well as entrances and where people might end up spending longer periods of time, like the lounge areas and tables. I liked the idea of a cafe on the top floor, with additional outdoor seating accessible by the outdoor stairs. I also considered safety and made sure that the stairs from the first floor to the second were inside the building.
