One of the trickiest parts of this project was figuring out how to create a “daring” design as requested by the clients, while still allowing it to integrate well with the existing building. I chose to do this by creating a more unusual shape and adding glazing, while still keeping materials and many elements consistent. The roof is one example. I would have liked to make it gabled as well as slanted, but coudn’t figure out how to model that on Revit. Still, the consistency of the orange color and the pillars ties the two sections of the building together, along with the stone exterior. Another thing I focused on is an emphasis on community space, partially because the original building had such an obvious lack of them, and partially because those are the spaces I most enjoy I similar buildings on campus, like Huang and Y2E2.
