Description

The parameters were set to Solar Insolation from Revit, Cost of the Building based on total floor area, considering 750$ per m2, and also HVAC cost per m2. With this parameters, a ratio could be calculated to then be divided by the solar insolation and get a factor of increment for the cost of HVAC.

For this exercise I wanted to test the building's behaviour based on the solar insolation. In this case I wanted to use solar insolation in a hot weather location, where there is high energy usage coming from HVAC systems. Considering a glazed wall in the facade that allows for great heat gain inside the building and a constant cost of HVAC/m2, its HVAC system efficiency wont be the same as it will need to increase its system capacity to compensate for extra solar insolation, therefore, more expensive to pay monthly. This is viewed from an apartment/office owner from the building point of view. For this owners and potential buyers interest will be the building 70 m in height with 15 twist. Because of its location behind 2 other structures, the building is mostly covered from the sun with this alternative.
