Key Findings from the Interview

  • What does "sustainability" mean to you?

Sustainability to him is the process of keeping something at a specific rate. Something that is sustainable should have the ability to last long in a good shape. In addition, sustainable products are ones that are eco-friendly.

  • Being a Civil Engineer with PhD in structures and construction any idea what is considered sustainable in this domain?

In his belief construction has a direct effect on the environment due to the wastes created, emissions from machinery, and especially in the Middle East the destruction of the environment. For construction to be considered sustainable, it should be built using eco-friendly material, has effective use of resources, and most importantly doesn't harm the environment.

  • How do you think we can promote sustainable construction in the Middle East?

He blames the lack of knowledge about the importance of having sustainable construction for the absence of sustainable projects. However, he argues that new laws are being implemented to have higher sustainable constructions. In addition, people are moving away from the normal traditional project in favor of fresh ecofriendly projects.
