Description

This is a model for a simple, relatively inexpensive, field research station with passive solar design features. Several southern-facing double-hung windows capture light and heat throughout the day and allow for plenty of ventilation. With approximately 500 square feet of floor area, the station can easily accommodate three field researchers. It has a main room with a meeting space, office space, and lab bench; an ADA-compliant bathroom with grab bars; and an 80 square foot storage room. The station’s sloped roof provide two large faces for mounting photovoltaic panels for generating electricity onsite.
