My overall focuses for my design stem from waste reduction, the incorporation of passive heating and cooling, green space, renewable energy, and sustainable material utilization. Coming from an environmental background, I understand the crucial importance of natural settings. Therefore, I would want my building to incorporate green life and almost feel like the outdoors in an enclosed space. I love natural light and how effective it can be in reducing energy use, and would love to include that in my design. I also love the look of natural wood, and would aim to use reclaimed wood in more of the non-structural parts of the design in order to bring down both waste and cost. My setting would be in California to best take advantage of the sun’s rays in electricity generation. I would use the roof as the setting for all of the photovoltaic solar panels to help power the building. I would also love to use plants in order to keep the air clean within the space, and have an open layout with high ceilings to bring the plant life (trees) into perspective. I also want the space to be interactive through playful design like diversity of shapes and other sustainable materials.

Here is a link to some of the projects in Singapore that inspired some of my design concepts.
