As are buildings, our systems are complex. When we see a house, for example, we have the envelope, insulation, framing, and then the interior. Likewise, we can compare this to our bodies as the skin, fatty tissue, skeleton, and internal organs, respectfully. One of the skin’s function is to hault exterior elements from getting inside the body just as a building’s exterior walls do, to the best of their ability. Our fatty tissue acts as insulation to maintain our body temperature just like the house. The framework, as is the skeleton, is the structural component necessary to maintaining stability. Finally, our internal organs are similar to the interior walls separating different rooms and HVAC systems that run throughout the entire house as do our veins, connecting all components, etc.
