The new student center emphasizes open space, collaboration, and visibility. In order to do this the front rotunda of the building is a glass curtain wall and student work spaces are also enclosed in glass. The highlight of the building is the 3rd floor patio roof-deck. One part (the half rotunda) is enclosed as a student art gallery and bar while the remainder is a roof deck for meetings, studying, and happy hours. The building is connected to the previous building by a sky bridge. The ground floor serves as more community space with a cafe in addition to the maker space. The second floor is used as collaborative work space. Two alternative design options are present 1) the use of stone on floors 1 and 2 exterior rotunda instead of the curtain wall and 2) a connecting archway to the existing building rather than the sky bridge.
