Stage 1
Part 1
The input parameter I flexed was height from 500-750’.
Part 2
For this part, I kept the height options the same and then added the base width parameter. I flexed that from 100’ to 300’. For my form, I made adjustments to the 3-profile template.
Stage 2
For this stage, I made my own profile, which is a four-pointed star type thing. Then I lofted three profiles into the mass. I used similar logic to Stage 1 Part 2 in Dynamo, but the parameters I flexed were the top height and the base side A length (in these photos - left-right dimension).
Points to Ponder
- What’s the advantage of exporting the values to Excel?
- When you have a lot of values that you are testing and/or you are flexing multiple parameters. having the values exported to excel helps save a lot of time copying values over and prevents any mistakes that could come with that. It was especially nice for part 2 because I was able to keep track of the value of both parameters and the results it gave in each row.
- Which of these inputs tested has the biggest effect on creating a desirable building form?
- Making the base wider was better to have more floor area, but then the angles were sharper. I think the smaller base is actually better to use for making rooms. I would just maybe have the other dimensions have a relationship with the parameter next time so I could make the building wider but not as sharp.
