The building form that I chose for this assignment was the constant taper, twisting rounded rectangular mass.

I adjusted the instance parameters of the form so that the adjustable parameters that can flex the form are: Top Height, Top Rotation, Base Rotation and Base Radius. The remaining instance parameters were set as follows:

Base Height = 0

Mid Height = (Top Height + Base Height)/2

Mid Radius = 0.75 * Base Radius

Mid Rotation = (Top Rotation - Base Rotation)/2

Top Radius = 0.5 * Base Radius

After evaluating the metrics against the input parameters by varying them manually, I modified Professor Katz’s custom node to evaluate all three output metrics in the same node. The results of varying Top Height against the Gross Floor Area, Gross Surface Area, and Gross Volume are shown. The building must be at least 600ft tall to meet the design requirements requested.

To flex another instance parameter, the user simply has to choose from one of the other parameter in the “Input Parameter to Flex” group and adjust the list nodes in the list map to use the set of values under the “Values to Flex” group.
