Module 3 - Project Goals Targets & Strategies
List your three or four guiding design goals using this format for each goal:
Goal 1: Energy Efficiency
- Measure: EUI
- Targets:
- minimally acceptable value: 80% reduction (AIA 2030 Commitment, the goal between 2020- 2025)
- desired / target value: Net Zero
- Strategies:
- Sunlight capturing for day lighting
- Lighting equipment (LED, optimized locations, motion sensing, etc.)
- Adapting energy efficient envelopes
- Installing efficient HVAC systems
Goal 2: Reduce Water Use
- Measure: gallon per year (or operation hour)
- Targets:
- 50% reduction from a baseline building
- 80% reduction from a baseline building
- Strategies:
- Rainwater capturing systems
- Reusing grey water
- Purifying black water systems
- Efficient fixtures (Toilets, kitchens, water spaces)
Goal 3: Cost Reduction
- Measure: Total cost (including operation phase)
- Targets:
- 10% reduction from a baseline building
- 30% reduction from a baseline building
- Strategies:
- Optimizing material use in the building (e.g. amount of concrete)
- Power generation systems to reduce electric bill (solar, wind, geothermal)
- Reducing rework in the construction phase by reducing crushes
