Summary

For this project, I looked into 2 parameters: the ratio of the minimum floor area to the maximum floor area and the total approximate heating load for a structure.

The ratio of minimum to maximum floor area is important for a building both in terms of structures and MEP because vertical continuity is important. It allows for column and mechanical shaft continuity. The maximum floor area was taken to be 200ft x 200ft, which is the ground floor area.

The total approximate heating load was estimated using 200 BTU/sqft floor area for heating load from lighting, 400 BTU/sqft floor area for heating load from occupants, and 200 BTU/sqft floor area for heating load from the glass surface around the building.
