Module 6 - Points to Ponder

What are the principal advantages of creating a conceptual design model using masses before diving into the detailed design and building element modeling?

Conceptual design models are faster to iterate on the big picture feel of the design using masses. The purposely coarse and constrained nature of the shapes helps limit focus away from details.

The tooling available for creating walls, floors, and ceilings also allows these conceptual designs to look realistic and be real scaffolds for further detailed design.

Can you think of any examples of a real building around the world that most likely was created by exploring the form using conceptual mass models?
