Part B - Preliminary Problem Statement

PROJECT WORKING TITLE: ”Safety - not only for your head but also your helmet”

  • [CYCLIST] needs to [RISK GETTING THEIR HELMET STOLEN] because [HE/SHE DOESN’T WANT TO CARRY IT WITH THEM AT ALL TIMES]
💡
Helmets are very important when riding a bicycle. However, deriving from the held face-to-face interviews (documented in another section), it seems like the main reasons for cyclists not wearing a helmet are: - “Helmet hair” - messing up the hairstyle - “It gets warm under the helmet” - “Helmets cost money” - “Helmets are annoying to carry around” - “Helmets look bad” A solution that made it easy to protect the costly helmet and helped the cyclist to not carry their helmet around, would already solve two these issues. In turn, more people would wear helmets perhaps.

Possible Interview Questions / for bike riders in general (or similar to CCP 2 as listed in another Design Journal Entry):

  1. Do you wear a helmet when riding your bike?
  2. If so, name 1-3 reasons? If not, name 1-3 reasons?
  3. If you do, how do you store your helmet when you get off your bike?
  4. If you do not, how would you store your helmet when you get off your bike?
  5. What are the first feelings towards this solution that come to your mind?
