The domain that I’d like to focus on is…
Ocean pollution, more specifically from trash left by tourists on the beach.
This area is important/interesting to me because….
I get really bothered by that kind of thing. It’s deplorable to see something so beautiful being made less magical and harmed by the trash we leave behind. I’m a scuba/snorkeling diver and back home I’ve been a member of a diving group dedicated to clean the bottom of the ocean near certain heavily frequented beaches for 4 years now. The project is called Fundo da Folia https://www.instagram.com/fundodafolia/. But I think it’s also important to think ways of preventing that trash going to the ocean in the first place. That’s why I chose this topic.
Additional: Early suggestion
I think that most of the trash that is left behind on beaches are not only due to lack of awareness on the topic, but mostly due to lack of places to leave the trash. It’s not the most practical thing to promote adding trash cans to the beaches, so I would propose to design a special bag that could either be delivered to each person and the person is compelled to bring it or given once they go into the beach and then returned upon exit.
