Town and country village is a shopping center on the corner of el camino and embarcadero right next to Stanford campus. Unfortunately, its use as a social and commercial hub is significantly hampered from both the pedestrian and driver perspectives by the incredibly high level of vehicle traffic. There is far less greenery or outdoor space than such a large plot of land could conceivably afford, and to get anywhere, pedestrians need to cross multiple levels of traffic. Additionally, from a driver’s perspective, a lack of suitable parking and the need to circle multiple buildings and multiple lots makes the parking experience at Town and Country a hassle. Aligned with the quest to create more sustainable, human-centered public spaces, how can we improve the experience at town and country?
