What are the principal advantages of using a single building information model of the existing conditions as the foundation for modeling proposed additions or renovations?

  • Why not create a separate model for the new proposed design?

This tool allows the design team to easily compare and share multiple options and let the client see the comparison. A different model would be challenging to manage and could lose the path of new changes in the project.

In your project, which features of the proposed design did you choose to model as design alternatives?

  • Why did you choose these building features? And what were the biggest challenges in modeling them as the design alternatives?

I choose to manage as design alternatives the furniture because I believe that that is the first option that the clients see in any project. The biggest challenges in modeling them are to try to replicate the client's idea and find a free or accessible family of the desired furniture.
