Journal Entry For
Project 1 - Testing Session 1
What did you observe?
What did you observe and note as you watched users interact with your prototypes?
- Testers were going through the suggested prototype smoothly
- Some testers would occasionally ask questions while they were taking a look through my text and diagrams to be sure that their understanding of what they are going through is what is actually intended from what is being presented.
- Some of the testers displayed positivity
What feedback did your users share after the testing?
What feedback did your users share after they've had a chance to interact with and explore your prototypes?
- During my initial testing and the final one conducted after iterating our prototype, the testes were generally positive about the whole idea. Further they found it quite interesting as it tackles not only one environmental/sustainability aspect, but two; waste management and renewable energy generation.
- Some of the key takeaways include, but are not limited to:
- One should relay more on the collection of the cooking oil used by restaurants and fast food chains (the B2B aspect of the initiative) to drive profitability in the early stages of the business. This is merely because of the fact that these entities will provide larger quantities of the oil needed to run the bio-fuel producing facilities.
- In designing the incentive scheme for our Business-to-Consumer (B2C) division, testers recognized the diverse preferences across our consumer base. Rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all approach, they felt it would be more beneficial and engaging to implement a points-based system. This system would enable households to accumulate points proportional to the quantity of oil they collect and provide. These points could then be redeemed for a range of rewards, from ready-made food baskets to cash incentives, allowing us to cater to the individual tastes of our households. Furthermore, as part of our commitment to promoting sustainability, I thought it would be meaningful to offer options for customers to direct their points towards charitable causes or tree planting initiatives. This allows them to create a positive environmental impact while feeling an integral part of our business.
