Key Findings from the Interview
#1. How important is the environmental impact of cosmetics when choosing a product?
→ It gives me a positive impression if a product has a sustainability mark, but it's not a major feature for choosing products.
#2. Are there any particular ingredients or practices in the cosmetics industry that you consider to be unsustainable or harmful to the environment?
→ Packaging
#3. What barriers or challenges do you face in finding and purchasing sustainable cosmetics?
→ It is true (for me) that the sustainability mark gives a good impression, but I don’t know exactly what is good or what exactly it means.
#4. Do you trust the claims made by cosmetic brands regarding their sustainability efforts? Why or why not?
→ I kind of trust the claims, because I think it’s impossible to claim completely untruth, when considering the relevant laws.
#5. Are there any specific certifications or labels that you look for when buying sustainable cosmetics? Why?
→ I don’t know any specific marks. Merely green marks seem good…
#6. How do you balance your desire for sustainable cosmetics with other factors, such as price and effectiveness?
→ I only consider sustainability only when I can’t decide the product with other factors.
#7. Are there any sustainable packaging practices that you consider important when it comes to cosmetic products?
→ I personally don’t think cosmetic packaging (especially a bottle contains ingredients) is able to recycle. So I prefer ‘biodegradability’ feature for cosmetic packaging.
