Module 3 - Project Goals Targets & Strategies
List your three or four guiding design goals using this format for each goal:
Goal 1: Recycling of water recourse
- Measure: The proportion of water consumed by circulating water & the proportion of water consumed by collecting natural rainwater
- Targets:
- minimally acceptable value: 30%
- desired / target value: 50%
- Strategies:
- Incorporating rainwater harvesting to irrigate expansive green spaces and landscaping.
- Use waste water for toilet flushing and other cleaning purposes
- Design indoor water circulation system
Goal 2: Reduce heating/cooling system energy consumption
- Measure: EUI
- Targets:
- minimally acceptable value: reduction by 20%
- desired / target value: reduction by 50%
- Strategies:
- Adjust the window wall ratio and overhangs
- Facilitate indoor and outdoor air circulation by designing the position of vents
- Selection of building envelope materials
- Passive solar design
Goal 3: Use sustainable material
- Measure: Ratio of sustainable material used
- Targets:
- minimally acceptable value: 30% of the whole building
- desired / target value: 60% of the whole building
- Strategies:
- Use recycled/biodegradable materials
- More use of wood structures rather than concrete
Goal 4: Increase green area and open space
- Measure: Average green area of buildings
- Targets:
- minimally acceptable value: 30% of the whole building
- desired / target value: 40% of the whole building
- Strategies:
- Create rooftop gardens
- Increase garden area
- Extent some part of the building into natural space (corridors or sightseeing trails)
