Description

I chose to use a hexagonal shape to be the base of my building because I wanted to make the small space feel larger. The hexagonal architecture eliminates ninety degree angles that can make a space feel sharp and closed off and instead offers only obtuse angles that open the space up in order for researchers to better collaborate. This shape also allows for there to be more surfaces for windows and doors to be placed on, meaning that there is more natural light coming in than there would be otherwise which helps motivate creativity and connects researchers inside of the station to their environmental surroundings. An aspect of this design that I want to highlight is the fact that the storage area is only accessible from outside of the building. I did this because I wanted the indoor space to be able to be best utilized by the researchers inhabiting the structure and have more space for their work.
