Description
The proposed vacation house is designed to mimic the minimal cantilever aesthetic of the owners' inspiration images (Fallingwater, Farnsworth House, etc.). The upper level serves as the main living space, with a curtain wall front and center. The upper level is supported by a smaller lower level footprint (lobby and storage spaces) to create the illusion that the 2nd floor is floating. A 6 foot deck around the perimeter, coupled with a large, flat roof with 4 foot overhang, extend the width of the upper level to create the cantilever look.
Cars fit into a drive-thru carport area between the storage room (at the front face of the building) and the lobby (tucked into the back).
Bedrooms encompass the central kitchen/dining/living open area in the middle of the upper level. Stairs are located on the back wall and lead down to the lobby. The deck acts as a fire exit route to the ground slope on the backside.
