Description

My proposed field research station is simple enough that it could be built by students, but sophisticated in its implementation of passive solar design features. The southern face of the building boasts five large windows that flood the meeting room, work bench, and desks with natural light and warmth. The roof is also slanted downwards in a southerly direction so as to capture as much solar energy as possible. The eastern and western sides of the buildings also have large windows to further add to the natural light and warmth of the space. The bathroom and storage room are located in the back or northern side of the property as they are less frequented and require less natural light and warmth. The windows towards the back of the property are placed higher to capture as much natural light as possible towards the end of the day while maintaining privacy.
