BACB - Beautiful ADA Compliant Bathrooms

  • Are you a building designer? Have you spent countless hours designing your dream school, hospital, or office? The last thing you want to do is spend the time determining how to make ADA compliant bathrooms. Far from the most glamorous task, the BACB tool does all the heavy lifting for you! Simply enter the number of stalls and urinals you would like per bathroom and out will pop a 3D model, required floor area, and room width necessary for the bathroom. At that point it becomes a simple drag and drop into your whole design and no more headache.

To build the bathroom, first the required size of the room is calculated. Based on the spacing found here: https://www.access-board.gov/ada/guides/chapter-6-toilet-rooms/ the sizing was determined. Then, the points were calculated for the dividers and walls. Once placed, walls are set at the lines and the model is complete.

However, there is an error I have been unable to fix. I believe that the spacing for the stalls is incorrectly leading off of the spacing for the urinals. The goal was to have the urinals start in the bottom left corner of the room and set the walls out. Then, based on the final urinal wall, the stall walls would start. If there were no urinals, the stalls should have started in the corner. In my mind the logic makes sense but I could not translate it perfectly to dynamo. It was nothing terribly complex so I was disappointed I could not quite get it to work. But at the very least, I hope this tool can be a proof of concept and show that a useful tool is possible. Thank you!
