Module 1 - Design Inspirations & Big Feature Ideas
I want to focus on the following seven points to design a sustainable building.
- sustainable design
- durability.
- energy efficiency.
- waste reduction.
- indoor air quality.
- water conservation.
- sustainable building materials.
- A carbon neutral building. The water supply is self-contained, and the building's colorful exterior is memorable. It is a fixed sun shading system with double glazed Windows at the back. In addition, the building is equipped with solar panels, their harmonious combination on the outer skin, giving the building a sense of vitality and uniqueness.
- Covered with plants and flowers, herbs, woody and lianas wrap the building, forming a green planting wall that seems to extend from the surrounding green space, giving residents a sense of nature. At the same time, the vegetation absorbs carbon dioxide and releases oxygen through photosynthesis, reducing energy consumption and blocking heat better than traditional shading. The hovering cantilever that supports the most luxurious penthouse of the taller towers is a design marvel. It uses 25 percent less energy than a conventional building of the same size.
- Sustainable design features include adjustable fin-shaped solar panels that also reflect the building's neo-futuristic aesthetic. It also contains a pumping system that pumps cold water from the bottom of the nearby bay for the air-conditioning system.
- The Shanghai Tower is the second tallest architectural marvel in the world, the tallest in Asia, and a sustainable architectural marvel. The building's innovative design of two separate curtain walls acts like two layers of skin for the building, with a transparent second skin wrapped around the building, creating an air buffer that acts as natural ventilation, reducing energy costs, and 270 wind turbines on the facade that power the exterior lighting. At the same time, the building also established an energy center to explore a variety of energy intelligent operation and management system, in order to achieve the purpose of energy saving 10%-20%. In this building, different power supplies are used in summer or autumn, morning or noon.
- The tower's thinness maximizes the entry of natural light, thus reducing the need for electric lighting; When weather permits, the controller can automatically open the Windows before dawn to let in cold air as a form of natural ventilation.
