Why do different teams of designers and subcontractors link and share their models during the design process?

Different teams of designers and subcontractors link and share their models during the design process to make sure everyone is on the same page and working together smoothly. The advantages are pretty awesome. It helps teams catch mistakes early, avoid clashes between different parts of the design, and saves a lot of time because everyone sees updates in real-time. Sometimes, if changes are made too quickly or without careful checking, errors can sneak in.

How do you think design coordination was done before we started using digital models?

Before using digital models, design coordination was done through physical drawings, blueprints, and models made of paper or cardboard. Architects had to rely on these manual representations to understand and coordinate their plans. They often had meetings and discussions to ensure everyone was on the same page.

What strategies can design teams use to find and avoid clashes prior to the start of construction?

What can be done besides sharing the models digitally?

Design teams can avoid clashes before construction by regularly reviewing designs together, using 3D tools to visualize and spot issues, and employing special software for clash detection. Collaboration is key, so teams should communicate openly and involve all relevant experts early in the process.Regular meetings and workshops ensure ongoing discussion and problem-solving, while testing and simulations validate designs before finalization. With these approaches, design teams can catch and resolve clashes early, minimizing issues during construction.
