In the real world, I would imagine that having a single model is helpful for contractors/architects/builders/clients to visualize how the new building / addition would look/function in relation to the old one. Even designing the building, it was useful to keep a "show complete" view open at all times so I could make a cohesive design.
What sort of complexities are introduced when you construct a building complex in phases?
- What happens at the interfaces between the buildings as the phases advance?
- How can you plan and prepare for these complexities as your create your initial building model?
By constructing a complex in phases you can toggle views to show only what phase you are interested in. I imagine this tool is useful for builders who are only concerned with the renovation of a complex, or for the clients who want to visually understand what will be built in what phase. To better prepare for these complexities, I recommend duplicating views for specific phases and building in the appropriate views.
