Module 6 - Points to Ponder

What are the principal advantages of creating a conceptual design model using masses before diving into the detailed design and building element modeling?

The advantages are as follows:-

  1. Top down design with high level discussion of the overall layout of structure allowing us to have simple and quick decision making;
  2. The audience can easily understand general layout of building structure and the model can easily be adjusted before further editing of the model.

Can you think of any examples of a real building around the world that most likely was created by exploring the form using conceptual mass models?

There are three examples of a real building structure that I believe it was created using conceptual mass models and they are (1) Museum of the Future (Dubai), (2)Japan National Stadium (Japan) and (3) Singapore Changi Airport (Singapore)
