I wanted to model something that had x^4 geometry in the x direction and x^2 in the y direction. A sort of cross between the two shapes. I created the points with domain restrictions, then made curves from the points, and trimmed the curves with the x - y plane. Points were then extracted from the curves and used to insert adaptive geometry. The leading coefficient of the curve is adjustable as is the number of beams and the overall total scale.
