“Escape to the Trees”

Intended users

People, of all ages, who have always dreamed of a fort or treehouse as a kid, you finally can automate one with the click of a button (as well as see how much time/money it will cost).

Need you’re trying to provide a solution or support for

My app is intended to fulfill the childhood dream of having a tree house in your backyard. By automating the process and allowing users for custom inputs, parents can finally design the treehouse that their children have been begging for. However, I do not want my app to be limited to families!

I want to create a natural space for people (of all ages!) to be able to escape to. My design intends to be fairy-tale like and imaginative - a spot for people to relax, meditate, read and escape from the hustle and bustle of the world. I think even having a few treehouses on campus could provide a great escape for stressed-out Stanford students!

Inputs

Variable:

  • Width
  • Length
  • Interstory Height
  • Number of Beams
  • Number of Columns
  • Slide Details
  • Ladder Details
  • Wall Type
  • Floor Type
  • Structural Column Type
  • Structural Beam Type

Constant:

  • Offset Distance for Story
  • First Story Height

Underlying logic of the model you’ll implement

I intend to use pieces of the structural examples, like “Modeling a Rectangular Building Frame” in my design. I want the numbers of columns and beams to be inputs and variable, as well as all of the dimensions. I will be designing the treehouse almost fully on dynamo except for a few inputs such as details (slide, ladder, seating) that will be imported from Revit. For these details I searched “RevitCity” and made my own edits to the imported families to customize them to my liking. I intend for the geometry of my script in Dynamo to take the longest for this assignment but I am excited to try and get creative!

Outputs

  • Your dream treehouse
  • Cost of Construction
  • Hours for Assembly
