- The Louvre Museum — Paris, France
At the top of my list is The Louvre Museum in Paris, France. It is the world’s largest museum and is home to the one and only Mona Lisa. The Louvre features an array of special exhibitions including the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition where the largest collection of his paintings is kept. Aside from the historical content the museum has to offer, the beauty of the building is a form of art all in itself — the museum is absolutely gorgeous in every shape, way, and form. It has been meticulously crafted to be truly unforgettable. From the moment you set foot in the building, you become overwhelmed by beauty of the royal architectural styles captured within each of the exhibition’s designs. Although the exhibitions display slightly differing styles, the styles cohesively transition seamlessly from room to room. The ability to design a building that captures many different designs yet is synchronized so harmoniously is truly a work of art.
The image above presents one of my favorite designs within the building. The placement of the large skylight window illuminates the intensity of the design’s color scheme and the beautiful curvatures captured within the architectural design help amplify the room giving off the false illusion of a larger room.
- Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) — Dublin, Ireland
IMMA is a beautiful museum in the heart of Dublin, Ireland. At first glance, one would assume the museum is home to antiques or historical artwork; however, it is not. IMMA is home to contemporary artwork — it captures the beauty and power of modern and contemporary art created by Irish and international artists. Throughout the museum, there are very interesting exhibitions of modern art introduced by quirky and odd decor along with an interesting selection of staff. The staff, artwork, and eccentric designs displayed throughout the museum foster the ideal environment for an unforgettable experience.
